The IN74HC258A is identical in pinout to the LS/ALS258. The device inputs are compatible with standard CMOS Outputs; with pullup resistors, they are compatible with LS/ALSTTL Outputs.
This device selects a (4-bit) nibble from either the A or B inputs as determined by the Select input. The nibble is presented at the Outputs in inverted form when the Output Enable pin is at a low level. A high level on the Output Enable pin switches the Outputs into the high-impedance state.

Description
The large output drive capability coupled with the 3-State feature make this device ideal for interfacing with bus lines in a bus organized system. When the output control input line is taken high, the Outputs of all four multiplexers are sent into a high impedance state. When the output control line is low, the select input chooses whether the A or B input is used.
